Jet Li and Jackie Chan's First Movie
Jet Li and Jackie Chan have made a film together finally. I am a little upset about though. Instead of making a traditional kung fu movie they made a lightweight movie about an American teenager traveling to China for some martial arts adventure.
Jet Li and Jackie Chan careers started out a lot different from one another. Jet Li was studied Wushu from a young age. He competed successfully as a wushu student. Jackie Chan on the other hand was learned his skills the Chinese Opera.
Their acting careers also started out different. Jackie Chan at first for stuntman appearing in small roles in films. He also was a action choreographer Jet Li on the otherhand first role was a staring role. His first movie in Shaolin Temple was a big hit in Mainland China and the movie spawned two sequels.
Jackie Chan didn't get popular right away. His first big hit was Snake in Eagles shadow. A film directed by Yuen Woo Ping. This role was first created for the late Fu Sheng but he was unable to take the role due to an injury he sustained. After this film Drunken Master came out and this is where his legend began.
Drunken Master is a story about the Wong Fei Hung who is a legendary martial arts hero in china. Wong Fei Hung is played by Jackie Chan to perfection in the film. His brilliant blend comedy and martial arts skills made him a star.
Eventually Jackie Chan crossed over to Hollywood. American movie fans was amazed at his stunts and action comedies and even now Jackie Chan is in his 50's is still astonishing fans
Jet Li first crossed over to Hollywood in a role in Lethal Weapon 4. Jet Li was casted as a villain in this film. In Chinese films Jet Li was usually a good guy but Jet Li was very menacing in this film. The final battle between Jet Li, Mel Gibson and Danny Glover was very good. Fight scenes in China are a lot more intricate than fight scenes in American films. After that Jet Li made more action films in Hollywood like The One and Kiss Of The Dragon.
I hope Jet Li and Jackie Chan first film together will be good. I just wish it were a more authentic film.
